Robert Pattinson to Return as The Batman in Daring Sequel

It was just announced that Robert Pattinson will be returning as Batman in the sequel to “The Batman.” Warner Bros made the big reveal during their presentation at CinemaCon earlier this week.

Director Matt Reeves was on hand to make the announcement, but he didn’t provide any details about what the movie will entail. This is definitely exciting news for the Batman fans all over the world!

In March, DC’s gritty three-hour superhero film “The Batman” debuted on the big screen and earned $134 million in the United States. That box office revenue still ranks as the biggest opening weekend of 2022.

“The Batman” is only the second pandemic-era movie to reach $100 million in a single weekend following “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.

The film “The Batman” is currently the most successful movie of the year (financially).

Theaters First, HBO Max Later!

Following the release of its entire 2021 slate simultaneously on HBO Max, Warner Bros reverted to delivering only theatrical releases for the first time. Moving forward, Warner Bros will keep its new films in theaters for 45 days before releasing them on HBO Max.

Upcoming titles:

  • “Elvis” (June 24)
  • “DC League of Super-Pets” (July 29)
  • “Creed III” (Nov. 23)
  • “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” (Dec. 16)

“The Batman” was dark yet fresh

This was a unique take on “The Batman.” It had a comic-book feel to it and focused more on the detective side of things, much like the successful film “Zodiac Killer.”

This iteration of Batman didn’t rely heavily on tech like the Dark Knight trilogy, it felt more like a game of cat and mouse.

Robert Pattinson delivered a Batman unlike any we’ve seen before. He was brooding, intense and had a darkness to him that was quite intriguing. I wasn’t sure how audiences would respond seeing Pattinson dawn the cape and mask, but I am sold.

Who will be the Batman’s next great villain?

Bruce Wayne has plenty of enemies, and DC has a catalogue of villains to choose from that stretches back decades. I’m excited to see who Reeves and Warner Bros will choose as the next super villain.

There are so many possibilities, and I am excited to see who they pit Bruce Wayne against in the sequel.

The Riddler was a personal favorite of mine, Reeves made an excellent choice pitting him against the bat in the first movie. The next time around, I would like to see if they can go darker and up the ante.

A few DC villains we could see:

  • The Joker
  • Two-Face
  • Court of Owls
  • Clayface
  • Scarecrow
  • Professor Pyg
  • Hugo Strange
  • The Batman Who Laughs

Conclusion

We will have to wait and see what Warner Bros has in store for us but I am looking forward to seeing what direction Reeves takes Batman next. Are you excited for the sequel? Who do you want to see Batman go up against? Let us know in the comments!
