New and Exciting MCU News at SDCC

What’s in store for the MCU’s Phase 5 and Beyond?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) made groundbreaking announcements at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) this weekend. This came after early speculation that Marvel would save any big announcements for D23 in September. NOT SO!

The MCU is synonymous with Blockbuster Superhero movies and has largely cornered the market with methodical Phases of films. IRON MAN kicked off the MCU in 2008 as the first film of Phase 1. Here we are, 15 years later with the MCU deep into Phase 4 and headed full steam into Phase 5. Phase Five is ready and is building toward something amazing! And we haven’t even mentioned the Phase SIX news!

So much awesome news is out now in fact that some Announcements may have slipped through the cracks. Don’t feel bad though! Between D&D, DCCU, and THE COMIC BOOKS – you are forgiven if you didn’t hear every SDCC announcement. We all get at least one mess up at SDCC after all!

Rest easy though my fellow Marvel fanatics! Nerd Night News is here to bring you a few of the most anticipated (and cool) projects slated for a Marvel Cinematic Universe release.

Plenty of Marvel Heroes to Choose From on Disney+ and in Theaters

Let’s talk about Trailers. Marvel and Disney have a few that deserve your attention!

2022 is the year to complete Phase 4. SDCC finally unveiled two highly anticipated projects with THE BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER (Theaters) and SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW (Disney+). The trailers point to Phase 4 going out in style!

The Black Panther sequel has been a topic of debate since star Chadwick Bosman passed away from Cancer in 2020. We’ll let the trailer speak for itself but get the tissues ready. IT HITS THE FEELS HARD. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives at theaters on November 11th, 2022.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Full Disclosure – I have a long-standing crush on the She-Hulk character and as such CAN NOT be objective about this trailer. With that being said – HOLY CRAP this Disney+ series looks like a ton of fun! The new trailer shows that some of the… rough… CGI that fans kindly (and not so kindly) pointed out in the first trailer has been addressed. Get the spandex ready – the original Disney+ series begins streaming on August 17th, 2022.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law

Not going to lie – my inner child is more excited for Marvel’s I AM GROOT than I should probably disclose. The Disney+ series will feature original shorts that follow Baby Groot’s glory days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars. The animated series premieres on August 10 exclusively on Disney+.
