Jinx League of Legends Champion vs the Startling Arcane Killer

Do you know the Jinx from League of Legends? If not, don’t worry, we’re going to explain everything in this blog post. Jinx is a powerful champion in the game and she has a lot of fans. But who is Jinx really? What are the differences between her and Arcane’s Jinx?
We answer all those questions and more in this article.
Jinx League of Legends: According to Riot Games
Riot Games is not known for writing detailed back stories on every single one of their characters. The character Jinx is no exception to the rule.
After I got done watching Arcane Season 1, I wanted to know more about Jinx from League of Legends.
A simple search for Jinx’s bio on the League of Legends official website reveals the following about the conflicted character:
“A manic and impulsive criminal from Zaun, Jinx lives to wreak havoc without care for the consequences. With an arsenal of deadly weapons, she unleashes the loudest blasts and brightest explosions to leave a trail of mayhem and panic in her wake. Jinx despises boredom, and gleefully brings her own chaotic brand of pandemonium wherever she goes.”
Basically according to Riot Games, Jinx in “LOL” (League of Legends) is a super mega death rocket wielding lunatic who makes the brightest explosions.

Jinx League of Legends: Abilities
Every champion in the hit game League of Legends has their own abilities that make them unique and fun to play. Jinx is no different in that regard. Here are her abilities as listed on the official website:
GET EXCITED!
- Jinx receives massively increased Move Speed and Attack Speed whenever she helps kill or destroy an enemy champion, epic jungle monster, or structure.
SWITCHEROO!
- Jinx modifies her basic attacks by swapping between Pow-Pow, her minigun and Fishbones, her rocket launcher. Attacks with Pow-Pow grant Attack Speed, while attacks with Fishbones deal area of effect damage, gain increased range, but drain Mana and attack slower.
ZAP!
- Jinx uses Zapper, her shock pistol, to fire a blast that deals damage to the first enemy hit, slowing and revealing it.
FLAME CHOMPERS!
- Jinx throws out a line of snare grenades that explode after 5 seconds, lighting enemies on fire. Flame Chompers will bite enemy champions who walk over them, rooting them in place.
SUPER MEGA DEATH ROCKET!
- Jinx fires a super rocket across the map that gains damage as it travels. The rocket will explode upon colliding with an enemy champion, dealing damage to it and surrounding enemies based on their missing Health
How did Jinx go from a vague bio and a handful of abilities to one of the most beloved loose cannon characters of all time?

Riot Games Expands Jinx Lore
Going further down the rabbit-hole led me to a great write up by Graham Mcneill who is a Principal Narrative Writer on the World-building team at Riot Games. He does a great job expanding LOL’s short bio on Jinx (which was needed). Graham paints the picture on the Legends Wiki that Jinx is more of a Harley Quinn type character.
One example Graham gives when fleshing out her lore is the following:
“Jinx first gained notoriety through her anonymous “pranks” on the citizens of Piltover… particularly those with connections to the wealthy merchant clans. These pranks ranged from the moderately annoying to the criminally dangerous. She blocked streets on Progress Day, with a stampede of exotic animals freed from Count Mei’s menagerie. She disrupted trade for weeks when she lined the city’s iconic bridges with adorably destructive flame chompers. Once, she even managed to move every street sign in town to new and utterly confusing locations.”

Who is Jinx in Arcane?
Jinx in the Netflix hit animated television show Arcane is a complicated character, but I enjoyed her story arc the most. And that says something considering all the amazing Arcane characters we get to know in the Netflix series.
The product of loss, insecurities, self-blame, self-doubt, unresolved childhood trauma and bad parenting make up the DNA of Jinx as a character in the TV show Arcane.
The converted Riot Games character Jinx hits her stride and becomes the impulsive criminal from Zaun when Arcane’s big bad, Silco, takes on the mantel of her father figure. Jinx is at her absolute lowest and easily manipulated by Silco.
What Happened to Jinx in Arcane?
Before Jinx turns into a manic and impulsive criminal who will wreak havoc on Zaun, she is a sweet innocent girl named Powder.
Powder has a series of unfortunate events happen to her. She loses her parents at a young age (due to a failed uprising). And then she’s directly responsible (even if it wasn’t on purpose) for the perishing of her adopted family.
These events cause Powder to transform and become the loose cannon that we know in the show, renaming herself Jinx.
How Old is Jinx from Arcane?
When watching the show, no official age has been stated.
We do know from League of Legends that Jinx was born in 975. Jayce is 24 years old in Arcane, which translates to being born between 961 and 966. Using some simple math we can assume Jinx is around 10-15 years old.

Who is Jinx’s Sister from Arcane?
You wouldn’t be able to tell the story of Jinx from Arcane without mentioning who Jinx’s biological sister Vi is. Vi is another League of Legends port-over. In the Netflix Arcane show, Vi is the protective older sister of Jinx. The two sisters have a tight bond, making it all the more painful for us viewers to watch when Vi abandons Jinx.
Vi was Jinx’s guiding light, role model and protector. Until Jinx’s volatile explosives killed their adopted family.

Jinx Arcane Voice Actor
The voice actor for Jinx in the hit Netflix series Arcane is none other than Ella Purnell. Ella Purnell is a British actress who became well-known in the United States for her appearances on American television. Her most notable parts were in the Showtime drama series Yellowjackets, as Jackie, Jinx from the Netflix animated series Arcane, and Gwyn in the Nickelodeon animated series Star Trek: Prodigy.
Ella Purnell will be reprising her role as Jinx in Arcane Season 2.

Jinx League of Legends: Is she a villain?
Is Jinx from LOL (League of Legends) a villain? No she is just a playable character.
Is Jinx from Arcane a villain? What is that old saying?
‘You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain…’
It’s easy to give someone the title “villain” when they’re performing destructive acts with deadly weapons (specifically a rocket launcher) and causing mayhem, but is that really fair? What makes a good villain? And can someone be a villain without knowing?
If you were to ask Jinx if she is a villain, she would probably respond with a trembling “no”. She is a character that lost her way and fell into the wrong situation. Can she be redeemed in Season 2 of Arcane? We will find out.
My money is on yes.

In Conclusion—Jinx: League of Legends Champion vs the Startling Arcane Killer
In a nutshell, Jinx is a conflicted character who started off as a paragraph of text in the League of Legends video game. Netflix’s Arcane Animated Series breathed life into her in the most beautiful way. It will be interesting to see what will happen to our troubled main antagonist in Arcane Season 2.
