IDW & Canto Return to High Fantasy With New Comic
IDW Publishing Delivers one of the Best Fantasy Comics of all time with Canto!
The Indie darling Canto, from IDW Publishing, returns to the World of High Fantasy with a NEW Limited Comic Series – Tales of the Unnamed World. Set between the events of Canto II: The Hollowmen and Canto III: Lionhearted, this 2-part limited series hits shelves on June 29th, 2022.

This is an all-new adventure for everybody’s favorite Tin Soldier CANTO. Co-created by David M. Booher (Firefly, Joe Hill Rain), and Drew Zucker (The House), Canto has been a fan favorite since it debuted in 2019. This Time Canto and his Friends must match wits and share Untold Stories with a mysterious Bard in order to return to the Clockwork Kingdom.
Booher and Zucker return, of course, but they are bringing along guest artists Liana Kangas (Star Wars Adventures, She Said Destroy), Jorge Corona (Middlewest, Batgirl, The Me You Love in the Dark), and Shawn Daley (Ogre, Samurai Grandpa). This All-Star lineup lends their magic to help craft uniquely new Canto adventures for the Mysterious Bard’s enjoyment!
Canto
The adventure began in 2019 with the self-titled CANTO. Enslaved for generations, Canto’s people once had hearts. Now they have clocks. When slavers damage a little Tin Girl’s clock beyond repair, Canto must brave his strange and fantastic world to bring back her heart. An all-ages fable inspired by Wizard of Oz and Dante’s Inferno. Part fantasy. Part adventure. All heart.
Canto & The Clockwork Fairies
In this 2020 One-Shot Canto encounters a group of captured fairies and it’s up to him to liberate them. The trick is doing it without being captured himself!
Canto II The Hollow Men
The 2nd Chapter of the All Ages Canto Saga came in 2020 with Canto II: The Hollow Men. Following the events of Chapter I where Canto found love and was given a name. He met strange allies and terrifying enemies, returned to his people, and led them to freedom. That freedom is in jeopardy when Canto discovers his people’s clocks will stop unless they return to captivity. He and his friends Falco, Rikta, and Veratta embark on a new adventure to save the lives of all their people.
Canto and The City of Giants
In the 2021 Mini Series follow-up to Chapter II, the titular hero reunites with the Giant Guardians of Dis, Fra, and Ba, as well as other friends and foes, to recruit the kingdom of Giants in his quest to battle the evil Shrouded Man.
Canto III, LIONHEARTED
2021 saw the return of Canto for the Next Chapter installment in the series. The tiny clockwork knight in search of a heart has found his people’s freedom and has saved them from the curse of the Shrouded Man, but is he ready to face his enemy on the battlefield? After making the ultimate sacrifice, Canto bears a weapon that could defeat the Shrouded Man and free all the inhabitants of the Unnamed World. Now, he races to find a hidden settlement of his former slavers to enlist them as allies in the coming war.
CANTO, TALES OF THE UNNAMED WORLD
This is a two-part miniseries entry that bridges Chapters II & III. The lovable knight Canto, his friends Falco and Rikta, and their Malorex mount are returning to the Clockwork Kingdom. But to get home, they must cross a bridge guarded by a mysterious bard. His price? A story he’s never heard in all the Unnamed World. A phenomenal collection of stories by David Booher and some of comics’ top artists expands the world and adventure of the fan-favorite Canto series between Canto II: The Hollow Men and Canto III: Lionhearted.
