New Game of Thrones Sequel in the Works: Jon Snow to Star
Winter is coming… again. HBO has announced that it is in the early stages of development on a new Game of Thrones sequel series, this time centered around fan-favorite character Jon Snow.
Kit Harington is attached to the new Game of Thrones project, should the series move forward. This will be potentially the first “Thrones” project to take place after the events of the original GOT series.
Bringing back two-time Emmy nominated actor Kit Harington should come as no surprise for Game of Thrones fans. Kit was an absolute fan favorite in the original Game of Thrones series. Harington did a tremendous job portraying the King of the North and his battle to remain just in an unjust world.
New Game of Thrones: Where is Jon Snow?
The last time viewers spent time with Jon Snow was in season eight of Game of Thrones. Jon Snow (or should I say Aegon Targaryen) was banished to North of the wall after stabbing Daenerys Targaryen.
It’s unclear where Jon Snow is currently, but it seems likely he is starting fresh outside the reach of Westeros, living amongst the wildlings.
HBO’s New Path Forward for Game of Thrones
It appears HBO is taking a page out of Disney’s playbook.
Disney has found success taking popular characters from their hit franchises and giving them series of their own. It appears Game of Thrones is about to follow suit.
Perhaps in the future, we will get more legacy Game of Thrones characters coming back to reprise their roles. I for one would love to see Tyrion Lannister as the Hand of the king in his own show.

Plotting to Fix GOT Ending?
When Game of Thrones came to a screeching halt in May of 2019, it left a bad taste in many fans’ mouths. A cultural phenomenon one minute and forgotten the next. Never has something taken over pop culture quite like Throne’s and then poof, gone in a blink of an eye.
Whats that old saying? The faster you rise, the harder you fall.
One day you’re on top of the world and the next everyone wants you to disappear. What’s worse is HBO lost 50% of its subscriber base immediately after Game of Thrones came to an end. That is a HUGE number and a lot of money gone overnight for HBO (probably why Discovery recently purchased HBO).
So perhaps this is new ownership trying to right the wrongs of the previous regime. Perhaps this Jon Snow Sequel series can change the controversial ending and get people buzzing about the original series again.
Only time will tell.
New Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon
It is uncertain if the new Game of Thrones Jon Snow sequel series will ever see the light of day. Something that is clear however is on August 21st of 2022 House of the Dragon will make its glorious debut.
House of the Dragon centers around house Targaryen and takes place roughly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
Including the Jon Snow sequel series, there is now 7 Game of Thrones projects in development.

Conclusion
I for one am very excited about this news. I absolutely love Jon Snow and I think Kit Harington is an incredible actor. I’m also one of the individuals who disliked the ending to Game of Thrones and any opportunity to fix it I will get behind.
