Is the Rock Being Cast in Dungeons and Dragons?


A Dungeon & Dragons TV Show is in the works. Something to consider, will Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson be playing in a Dungeon & Dragons TV Show? Rumors are swirling, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is playing in a Dungeon & Dragons TV series. So, time will only tell but right now, all signs point to it being a strong possibility.
Rawson Marshall Thurber who wrote, directed and produced ‘Red Notice’ on Netflix (starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson), has joined the production of the upcoming Dungeon & Dragons TV series as the creative overseer. Rawson Marshall Thurber has a long standing history of working with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. The two collaborated together on Central Intelligence (2016) and in Skyscraper (2018).
Moreover, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson said he has plans to play in another game adaptation. A game he used to play a lot in his youth. Could he be hinting at Dungeons and Dragons? Wait, did The Rock play D&D? How freaking cool would that be? After some digging, he has stated in interviews that he has played but he prefers board games over table top RPGs. Initial reports have stated his game adaptation would be for a movie. We know the D&D adaptation will be a serialized show. We could see Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson reuniting with Thurber, in addition to this other adaptation.

Information released today by Wizards of the Coast declare 2020 as the best year ever for the world’s biggest role-playing game. The company claims that over 50 million people have played Dungeons & Dragons to date and that 2020 was the seventh year of consecutive growth for the game.

Is Dungeons and Dragons a big enough IP to land someone like ‘The Rock’. According to Forbes, 50 million people have played Dungeons & Dragons. In comparison War Zone, the popular Call of Duty game, has had 100 million players. Call of Duty is rumored to be the franchise Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is bringing to the big screen. I wouldn’t count out Dungeons & Dragons, the project is being helmed by a familiar face in Rawson Marshall Thurber, it is growing in popularity and has a very passionate fanbase that spans generations.
