Dune: Part 2 Christopher Walken One Ruthless and Powerful Emperor
In a monumental casting decision for the upcoming Dune: Part 2, Christopher Walken is set to play Emperor Shaddam. This is huge news for fans of the franchise! Walken is a highly accomplished actor who brings his unique style to every role.
It won’t be long until we get our first glimpse at Walken in character because filming for Dune: Part 2 Christopher Walken-style starts this summer!
Denis Villeneuve continues his mission to bring the unbelievable-but-believable universe of Dune to life. After reading the first book I was skeptical about Hollywood attempting to bring a universe to life with lore as deep as Dune’s. But the first film impressed me. Denis did a fantastic job of putting the grand story on the big screen. He captured the ancient feel of this civilization tens of thousands of years into the future.
The Events Before Dune: Part 2 Christopher Walken-style
Dune: Part One covers the first half of the first book. Denis introduced us to the setting of Arrakis and the Atreides family. And then political events force Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) to leave his homeworld of Caladan. Along with his parents, they set up shop on Arrakis, a desert planet. Meanwhile, Paul has visions of this planet and sees inherent danger and possibility there. Then the Harkonnens force Paul to retreat with his mother (Rebecca Ferguson) to the desert. And the head of House Harkonnen kills Paul’s father (Oscar Isaac) and most of the Atreides army.
In Part Two, Paul Atreides and his mother, Jessica, shack up with the Fremen and learn their ways. But life goes on outside of the sietch now that Duke Leto is dead. House Harkonnen attempts a hostile takeover and Emperor Shaddam is a central figure in this conflict. So I am FIRED UP to see how Walken nails this.
It is a strength to be so eccentric and own it to the degree Christopher Walken does. His speech patterns, his body language, his mannerisms. He’s so consistently himself that you are forced to love him or hate him. And as a result, when you know he’s going to be in a film and you love him, you know you are always in for treat with Christopher Walken.

Dune: Part 2 is set for release October 20, 2023.
And what about after that?
This is what Denis had to say in a interview with Hollywood Reporter.
“If things go well with Part Two, I could foresee the idea of maybe doing … Dune Messiah. That would make sense to me,” Villeneuve says when asked about his career plans. “After that, I think that I will make some other movies — let’s call them big movies, regarding their ambition and scope. And later on, when I’m too tired to do that, I will go back to some smaller projects. But for now, I have the energy to do this.”
If Denis pulls off Part Two as well as he did Part One, I would love to see him take on Messiah, would you?
